As I wait for my husband outside the Mosque inside the busiest Mall in the city, I notice a couple at the corner of my eye. The lady is covered head to toe, full niqab and gloves. (I am also wearing gloves, but only because the temperate has dropped…) She looks immaculate, her husband is busy sliding with their small son on the slide-y, squeaky clean floor.
I could imagine her dying to join in, slide with her family and laugh but of course I don’t think she would and quite rightly so. She has made modesty her priority and how I admire her for it…
In an ever-changing city where the norm is not to consider modesty before leaving the door, I can only imagine how one walks out the home head to toe in the Sunnah of Rasullallah (Sall Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam) without any hesitation.
It’s so much easier to fit in, right?
It’s easier for us to dress according to our desires, not our Lord.
Even if, you got rid of your hijab years ago and you have no tolerance for “modesty” that is your right, albeit wrong attitude but still your human right to choose. However, don’t think those following the sunnah are ‘extreme’ – they are delicate woman deep inside just like you.
As much as you would hate for someone to judge your appearance, Imaan or character by your clothes alone, hate to do it to others, too.
Just like this dunya itself, no person is all bad or all good. We all make mistakes.

Nobody knows you. Not even you, yourself, know you. We barely know ourselves so how is it possible that we know the hearts and intentions of others? That belongs to Allah alone. He knows the past, present and future. He knows our sincerity and our private deeds. He knows how hard we are trying or how lost we are. Don’t leave this world feeling like you are better than others, even if you saw your sister sin by day, look at her with a fresh smile in the morning for Allah could have forgiven her tenfold while you were feeling superior…
Keep your private deeds hidden just as you hate for others to know your sins. Be sincere, have Ikhlas and watch Allah place Barakah in your life…
Say, “He is Allah , [who is] One,
Allah , the Eternal Refuge.
He neither begets nor is born,
Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
