Confidence isn’t walking into a room with your nose in the air and thinking you’re better than everyone else. It’s walking into a room and not having to compare yourself to anyone else in the first place.
“We’re still so caught up in appearances. No matter what a woman has achieved, the conversation still revolves around what she is wearing.”
– Yasmin Mogahed
Even Muslim women are guilty of this. Astaghfirullah. What’s the point in wearing modest clothes & hijab if you still spend an hour getting ready to “fix” all of your insecurities. You are still a victim to society. If you judge others based on how trendy, fashionable and “on fleek” they are. This is not Modesty. Modesty is about freedom. Freedom is having the courage to be you flaws and all.
On the road of fate, you do not meet anything except yourself: Be a liar and lies will come to you, be a robber and crimes will surround you. Whatever path you take, your fate will be nothing other than your own image.
– Dr. Mustafa Mahmud
If your outward appearance is still your #1 goal in life it’s time to reconsider why you wear hijab. Is it the normal or is it for Allah?
Don’t worry if you’re not there yet. Don’t worry if you haven’t yet conquered your desires and you feel like a failure.
It’s the struggle that counts most. This is Jihad. Don’t give up. Tomorrow is a new day. Renew your intentions with Him every day & when you feel down make Dua to Him to give you strength, courage and time to do more. We always think we have tomorrow, but tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. The beauty of Islam is that Allah subḥānahu wa ta’āla will forgive your sins if you regret and repent. But we can’t wait for tomorrow as we never know when our time is up.
Society has made us jealous & insecure, teaching us always to compare ourselves and never be satisfied with who we are.
Islam rejects this. Say Alhamdulillah for everything. The good, the bad & the ugly.
Beauty is not you trying to look like another person. Beauty is not the milky complexion, photo shopped model who appears in every make up compartment. Your beauty is in your rarity; there is no woman like you in all the world.
